BAGRAM AIR BASE, Afghanistan - Task Force 30th MEDCOM uncased its colors at the MWR Clamshell here May 13.
TF 30th MEDCOM, the first-ever Theater Medical Command in Afghanistan, deployed to Afghanistan to provide full spectrum command and control for arriving medical units, including Air Force and Navy elements.
"We are excited about our groundbreaking mission and its impact on the stability and future for this country," said TF 30th MED Commander Col. Dennis D. Doyle to about 100 TF 30th MED soldiers in formation, and 50 distinguished guests as maroon balloons - the MEDCOM color - filled the air. "We are equally committed to our Warrior Ethos tenant to never leave a fallen comrade."
Col. Doyle and Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher A. Walls uncased the colors proudly during the early morning ceremony.
In previous years, command and control had been decentralized throughout theater. TF 30th MED offers a new solution, with centralized planning and expanded roles in health service support, force health protection planning, medical logistics, patient movement, and health care policy.
TF 30th MED commands all echelon above brigade combat team medical forces in Afghanistan.
