Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi, Afghanistan army chief of staff, and Gen. John Campbell, vice chief of staff of the U.S. Army, address the media during a rollout ceremony for six armed MD-530 helicopters received April 9 by the Afghan Air Force as part of a foreign military sales case facilitated by the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command. Multiple FMS cases, which include a total of 17 modified helicopters, training, spare parts and additional equipment, will provide aerial support to Afghan ground forces. Additionally, Soldiers from the U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization (a subordinate command of USASAC) have been in Afghanistan since 2011 conducting pilot instruction and logistics for the Rotary Wing Flight Training Program on the MD-530.
