Switch off your car

(Photo Credit: Scavetta, Richard (Rick) A., CIV USARMY IMCOM EUROPE (US)) VIEW ORIGINAL

VICENZA, Italy - It’s warm out now – but you should not idle vehicles. It’s against Italian law. Switching off your engine also saves fuel and cuts pollution. Do your part, do not leave your vehicle running when not driving. Idling vehicles emit noxious gasses, when parked near buildings the fumes go inside affecting air quality and causing people to get sick. Take this as guidance from the garrison -- people cannot leave cars idling in any parking space on post. Most recently, people parking at the Visitor Processing Area at the main gate have left their engines running. But the problem is post-wide. Restarting causes less engine wear than idling. Restarting the engine uses the fuel equivalent to 10 seconds of idling. So, follow the 10 second rule. If you are stopping for more than 10 seconds, turn off the engine and restart when you are ready to go. When you turn off your car, you save money, help the wear on your engine, STOP polluting and obey the law.

Parking Permits Required (TDY and Long Term)

(Photo Credit: U.S. Army) VIEW ORIGINAL

For long term parking on Caserma Ederle and Del Din, you must get a permit from the PMO at Bldg 4B on Ederle. Once you get the permit, the authorized parking locations are the top two floors in both Del Din parking garages and in the parking lot behind Bldg 28 on Ederle (behind finance). Bring your current vehicle registration. For LN's using the Marco Polo shuttle, bring TDY orders also. Call DSN 646-5300 for more details.

The Army Maintenance Activity, a new mobile-friendly website to submit work orders, is preferred method for community members to submit maintenance requests for U.S. Army Garrison Italy.

ArMA officials estimate this will save more than 5,000 hours of manpower in one year.

Customers should give a good description and when you submit a photo, the work gets done about 25 percent faster on average.

Any registered user who notices a maintenance issue on their Army installation will be able to report the problem with ease. Additionally, unit leaders can create reports on maintenance status of all their buildings.
