Things you need to know this week! (Jan. 6, 2026)
This week on the TGO Weekly Update:
- First, a huge thanks to the Soldiers of 3rd Platoon, 108th Military Police Company, for their hard work keeping the VMC safe.
- Get ready—the Olympic Torch Relay hits Vicenza on January 20th! Watch it pass right outside the Chapel Gate on its way to the Milan-Cortina games. Look out for 12 of our own Army athletes competing this year!
- Heads up on Thrift Store hours: they are now closed Mondays, but staying open later Tuesday through Thursday.
- Also, don't miss our ZTL special this Friday—we’ll show you how to navigate downtown and avoid those pricey driving tickets.
- Finally, starting January 12th, Chapel Gate will close to inbound traffic for over a month. Outbound traffic and pedestrians can still use Chapel Gate in the afternoons. In addition, the housing gate will open early at 5:30.

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program office relocated ACS, Bldg 108. Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) relocated to Bldg 393.
PERMESSO DI SOGGIORNO CHANGES - A new electronic version of the Permesso di Soggiorno (Italian Residency Card) was recently implemented by the Italian Ministry of Interior. Paper Soggiornos, with a current validity date, are still valid. No need to replace them as of today. More guidance to follow. New Soggiorno and renewal applicants may schedule appointments through the Soggiorno Office.
