The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command announced that Pfc. Victor Vasquez, a cargo specialist from Juarez, Mexico, 689th Rapid Port Opening Element, 832nd Transportation Battalion, 597th Transportation Brigade, will represent SDDC at the Army Material Command Best Warrior Competition at Camp Atterbury, Indiana July 18-25.

Vasquez competed in the 2021 Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Best Warrior Competition at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia in May. The events included an Army combat fitness test, engagement skills trainer, weapons qualification, land navigation, a written exam, a 12-mile ruck march and a warrior tasks and drills event with timed events, like rendering first aid to casualties, calling a nine-line medevac request and weapons assembly.
