Fort Knox's 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) command team uncased the unit's colors during a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday in front of the unit's headquarters, Fowler Hall.
Maj. Gen. Flem 'Donnie' Walker, Jr., the commanding general of 1st TSC and Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Willett, 1st TSC command sergeant major, uncased the 1st TSC colors on Fort Knox, which officially signifies the relocation of the continental U.S. headquarters from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to its new home on post.
"You all are getting a two-fer today, as we are also conducting a ribbon-cutting ceremony (and) celebrating the renovation of Fowler Hall, our new state-of-the-art CONUS headquarters," said Walker.
The ceremony took place in front of the renovated Fowler Hall, a living piece of history on Fort Knox. While the building's historical integrity has been preserved, the facilities inside have been transformed into a cutting-edge operational logistical headquarters.
The turnout for the ceremony served as an immediate indication of the support the 1st TSC has been given since the transition from Fort Bragg to Knox began.
Walker noted in his comments how the installation and the community welcomed the 1st TSC as a partner of the cities and towns in Hardin County and all the surrounding communities.
One of the special guests in the audience was a former 1st TSC commander retired Lt. Gen. John McDuffie and his wife Kristina.
McDuffie was presented with a token of appreciation from the command. McDuffie's service and dedication to the command, the Army and nation has solidified 1st TSC's place as the Army's premiere sustainment command.
"The 1st TSC colors have been a symbol of unwavering support to the warfighter over the last 67 years from the Berlin crisis, to Vietnam, to Urgent Fury, Just Cause, Desert Shield/Storm, Restore Hope, Uphold Democracy and Provide Refuge of yesteryears," said Walker. "To more recently, ever since 9-11 and over the course of the last 16 consecutive years where this command has been answering the call to fight global terror with a continuous presence in support of some 20 countries throughout the (U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility)."
At the conclusion of his remarks, Walker thanked the units and installation agencies that made this renovation and the unit's new Fowler Hall headquarters on Fort Knox possible.
The ceremony was followed by a tour of Fowler Hall and a reception.
