FORT HOOD, Texas - Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division held the Hammer Challenge Jan. 23 at Fort Hood, Texas.

Organized by members of the unit, the challenge is an event that combines various physical and mental obstacles, in which teams from across the unit compete.

"The Hammer Challenge is a way for the different shops to do something different and challenging that brings esprit de corps to the whole troop," said Spc. Joshua Billeci, a human resources clerk with HHT. "It gives Soldiers, including officers, an outlet to laugh and compete for something as just bragging rights and the joy of creating the next challenge."

The winning team from the month prior plans out the tasks and organizes the challenge for the rest of the troop. Billeci was a part of the winning team the month before, and he played a big role in putting the event together.

Some challenges included tire flipping, buddy carries, lunges with five gallon water cans and a chain pull.

"I look forward to every Hammer Challenge to see what's next or what challenges have my fellow brothers and sisters conjured up," he said. "It brings everyone together as a family and nothing builds more of a team than hard work. That's exactly what the Hammer Challenge does.
