The Build the Bench interns during their Oath of Office on their first day as government employees.

Recently, the Joint Munitions Command held an in-person orientation week for interns new to JMC, as part of the Build the Bench program. JMC continues to focus on recruiting new talent and developing the talents of the workforce in various mission areas throughout the organization, to include logistics management specialists, general engineers, quality assurance specialists, health physicists, and financial management analysts. This effort ensures mission sustainability and success as JMC prepares for upcoming retirements throughout the command.

Orientation week began with reciting the Oath of Office and the formal swearing in as a government employees. MLRC Deputy Director, Bryan Arensdorff, and G1 staff member, Heather Tahja, assisted the new employees with obtaining JMC badges, provided information about recruitment and career programs, and talked about the importance of mandatory training.

The interns were introduced to the JMC mission, vision and organizational structure, and engaged in discussions about culture and trust. They received their annual Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Prevention Training and Suicide Prevention Training. The interns also had the opportunity to participate in the JMC town hall.

During their first week, BTB interns also job-shadowed sponsors and met with their supervisors. As part of the program, each employee will rotate through their respective mission areas.

“JMC is excited to have this team of professionals join our command. We continue to build our bench to the future as we broaden our talent management pool across the JMC command to meet human capital and project inclusion goals for our future workforce,” said Mr. Norbert Herrera, deputy chief of staff, human resources.
