KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - First Lt. Jessica Mouzzon, with the 3rd Sustainment Brigade, Third Infantry Division, is currently serving a tour of duty at Regional Command-South, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, as a protocol officer. Mouzzon, a Raleigh, N.C., native, arrived in theatre in December 2012.

This is Mouzzon's first deployment to Afghanistan. Her mission during this tour is to execute mission command of sustainment support to all U.S. and coalition forces within the scope of their national agreements operating in Regional Command-South/South West/West.

Mouzzon said she wanted to serve because it would be a challenge from which she would gain leadership experience.

As we begin to celebrate Women's History Month, which highlights the contributions of women to history, society and culture; Mouzzon had a few words of encouragement for women currently serving their country or those looking to serve.

"You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you," said Mouzzon. "Learn to stay positive in any environment because it not only builds resiliency for you but for others around you. A great leader is always willing to learn and share knowledge with others."

When Mouzzon returns home she said she is looking forward to spending time with her family and continuing a career in the Army.
