COL David Womack

Colonel David Womack was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry after graduating from Virginia Military Institute in 1992. He was first assigned to 1st Armored Division serving as a Bradley platoon leader, support platoon Leader, where he deployed to Macedonia, and as a Battalion S4.

After completing the Infantry Officer Advance Course, he served as the Brigade Plans Officer, commanded a rifle company, served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, 101st Airborne (Air Assault) and was a heavy weapons Company Commander in 3rd Battalion, 502d Infantry Regiment where he deployed to Kosovo. After company command, COL Womack served as an instructor in the Department of Military Instruction at the United States Military Academy.

Following attendance at the Air Force Command and General Staff College in 2005, COL Womack was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) where he served as a Battalion S3 and XO in the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment "Currahee" during Operation Iraqi Freedom III (Ramadi) and later as the Brigade S3 for the 506th Infantry. In the summer of 2007, COL Womack signed in to the Infantry Branch at the United States Army Human Resources Command.

In 2009, COL Womack returned to Fort Campbell to command the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry. While in command, the battalion deployed to Paktika, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. After command, COL Womack returned to the National Capital Region to serve as the Military Assistant to the Secretary of the Army, then as a student at the National War College.

In 2014 COL Womack took command of 2d Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After brigade command, he deployed to Afghanistan as the Combined Joint Deputy J3 for Resolute Support in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 2017, COL Womack assumed duties as the Assistant Deputy Director for Regional Operations (JOD Chief) in J35 on the Joint Staff before assuming his responsibilities as the Chief of Staff of the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii.

COL Womack holds a Bachelor's degree in History from VMI and a Master's degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Service and Staff School, the Air Force's Command and General Staff College, and the National War College. Additionally, he has completed the Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger, and Jungle Warfare training courses.

COL Womack's decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge and the Expert Infantry Badge.

COL Womack has three daughters.
