1st Special Forces Command to unveil Task Force Viking Memorial Stone

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, June 25, 2015) -- 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) (Provisional) will hold a memorial stone dedication ceremony at 9 a.m., June 30, 2015, honoring Task Force Viking at Meadows Fields Memorial Plaza on Ft. Bragg.

Lt. Gen. Charles Cleveland, U.S. Army Special Operations Command's commanding general, will host the ceremony.

The stone represents the men of Task Force Viking and their actions in Iraq during the initial invasion in March 2003, which led to the fall Ansar Al-Islam in Northern Iraq, the liberation of the cities of Mosul, Tikrit and Kirkuk and rendered the Iraqi defense of Baghdad useless from the north.
