Marking more than 12 years of service in Afghanistan, the Embassy of Canada is honored to host Canada's Afghanistan Memorial Vigil over the 2014 Memorial Day weekend.

The Afghanistan Memorial consists of the original commemorative plaques from the Canadian monument at Kandahar Airfield. The series of plaques is dedicated to the 161 Canadians and more than 40 U.S. Armed Forces members who paid the ultimate price in the service of peace and security while under Canadian command.

Public viewing of the Memorial in the Embassy's courtyard (501 Pennsylvania Ave, NW Washington) is available from Friday, May 23, to Monday, May 26, 2014. Attendants will be on site from 9:00AM to 5:00PM daily to answer questions.
