FORT KNOX, Kentucky -- The Fort Knox intramural flag football regular season kicked off Oct. 1 with two nights of hard-hitting action this week.

Athletics officials say 14 teams from Fort Knox are vying for playoff berths and a championship title at the conclusion of the pre-championship games in mid-November. The single-elimination playoffs, which start Nov. 5, will conclude with the championship game being played Nov. 15.

Prior to this week's regular season start, teams competed in a series of preseason scrimmages Sept. 25-27. The 14 teams competing in this year's season are HRC, HQ USAREC, 1st TSC, MEDDAC, 502nd MRBC, RRC USAREC, HHC 19 ENG, 541st ENG, 15th ECC, 42nd Clearance Company, FSC 19th ENG, Bluegrass ChalleNGe Academy, Cadet Command and 76th ENG.

The regular season is expected to conclude Nov. 1.
