CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea -- The "Scorpions" of Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 65th Medical Brigade bid farewell to Lt. Michael Kim and welcomed Capt. David Tobin during a change of command ceremony Nov. 8, 2017 on U.S. Army Garrison-Humphreys Freedom Field one day after the brigade colors were unfurled at their new headquarters.

Reviewing officer, Brigade Commander, Col. Wendy Harter reflected on the many accomplishments that Kim has attained during his tenure as company commander and highlighted his successful people skills and ability to get the job done.

"Lt. Kim you have led HHC through a challenging relocation and transformation period while simultaneously ensuring continuity of operation throughout numerous missions such as Key Resolve, Ulchi Freedom Guardian and the 38th Parallel Healthcare Symposium," said Harter.

Kim contributed his command accomplishments to the successful people behind the scenes from the unit leadership, to the supply room, to the orderly room and to the command team both past and present.

"We [HHC] have come a long way and having the opportunity to command you all has been the most rewarding of my career. The drive that the soldiers, KATUSAs and NCOs have, has helped make this the best company within this brigade and I could not have done it without all of you," said Kim.

"HHC is unique and being in command has certain challenges with a diverse number of military occupational specialties and a lot of personnel out rank the company commander," continued Kim. "I am humbled as I have learned why the Army places such great emphasis on command at all levels. It is the ultimate exercise in leadership, negotiation, tactical patience and navigating through a myriad of personalities and conflicts."

Tobin, brings his logistics expertise to lead HHC through 2018. Harter praised him as being the right person to ensure the unit will continue to improve its operational posture and readiness to' fight tonight' while challenging the soldiers to achieve excellence.

During his address to the troops, Tobin emphasized he will continue to enforce the importance of medical readiness on the peninsula thru employing mission command principles, setting conditions for medical operations, medical logistics and combat casualty care.

"Let's continue to make history with this prestigious organization as we integrate into USAG-Humphreys," said Tobin. "I am honored and humbled to become your commander and am fortunate to walk into a climate of professionals surrounded by those that desire to succeed."

Tobin comes to HHC from USAMMC-K.

"There is no more complex medical brigade in the Army today, forward positioned at the most strategic pivot point in the world," said Harter. "Scorpions keep leading the way to ensure health service support and our force health protection mission whether during armistice or conflict is accomplished and lives are saved and U.S. Forces Korea and 8th Army are ready to 'fight tonight' while the Brigade stands with you."
