FORT HOOD, Texas -- Four volunteers with Division West's 120th Infantry Brigade were recognized with awards including a Yellow Rose of Texas Award and a Dr. Mary E. Walker Award during a ceremony at the 25th Street Chapel Aug. 30.

"Volunteers enrich our community with their hard work and selfless service. We are grateful for their commitment and dedication that contributes to the success of our organization," said Sylvia Johnson, 120th Infantry Brigade Family readiness advisor.

The awardees were Emily Jimenez, who received the Dr. Mary E. Walker Award and the Yellow Rose of Texas Award; Adrian Evans and Linda Millican, who received Department of the Army Commander's Awards for Public Service; and Kimberly Lebs, who received a Patriotic Certificate of Appreciation.

The awardees served in organizations that included Girls Scouts of America, Special Olympics, Killeen Parks and Recreation, and Habitat for Humanity.

"There are always other people who have a need more than I do. It makes me happy to help fill those needs," said Jimenez, who has spent nearly 12 years working with the Special Olympics.

Millican spent the past year volunteering as the 120th Infantry Brigade Family Readiness Group leader. "I believe people can come to the FRG for support and learn more about opportunities for their families," she said.

Evans, who also supported the unit's FRG, said, "I'm enjoying spending time with other volunteers and giving to people in the community who might be less fortunate."

Lebs served in the unit's FRG, as well, and said she volunteers because she knows that no one can do it all alone. "We are all in this together. Each one of us has a part we can contribute to the team," she said.
