FORT HOOD, Texas (July 18, 2014) -- An acquisition forecast open house by Mission and Installation Contracting Command officials June 17 at Fort Hood, Texas, attracted more than 125 contractor representatives.

The MICC-Fort Hood small business-targeted event took place at Fort Hood's Mission Training Complex over two sessions.

The open house showcased specific recurring service acquisitions on the MICC-Fort Hood Advance Acquisition Plan that are coming up for re-compete from fiscal 2014 through fiscal 2016. Requirements were briefed to vendors possessing applicable North American Industry Classification System codes. NAICS codes are used by the government to classify businesses by a particular industry or economic activity.

The morning session addressed six recurring requirements for four of the contracting office's customers including the directorate of logistics; directorate of plans, training, mobilization and security; Operational Test Command; and network enterprise center. The afternoon session covered seven requirements for directorate of public works.

Maureen Huston, a MICC-Fort Hood procurement analyst, emceed the event and provided a briefing describing the installation, MICC-Fort Hood customers as well as tips and advice. She was joined by Kimberli Gray, the small business specialist for the contracting office. Gray provided a short presentation on her role and the success of MICC-Fort Hood in achieving its small-business goals. Also in attendance were Gregory James and Henry Vinson of the Cross Timbers Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

Fifteen-minute presentations on each of the requirements were conducted by representatives of each requiring activity.

"We could not have done this without them," Huston said, "I know that the companies were grateful to have the chance to talk directly with the customer and ask specific questions."

Officials received immediate, positive feedback, with many representatives suggesting more frequent intervals for the open houses. MICC-Fort Hood's next conference attendance takes place in February 2015 at the Fort Hood Region Government Vendor Conference and Expo, sponsored by the Centex Business Resource Center of Killeen, Texas. Huston said they ensured open house participants in the open house were made aware of the MICC's involvement in the expo.
