Born into an Army Family at Fort Polk, Louisiana in April 1968, Joseph (Joe) C. Holland graduated from, and was commissioned an Armor officer, from Loyola University Chicago in May, 1990.

Colonel Holland served as a junior officer in 2-68 Armor in Baumholder, Germany. He commanded Team C/3-66 Armor during the Army's Advanced Warfighting Experiment as a part of 1st Brigade, 2nd Armored Division, later 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Hood, Texas. Following tenure in a variety of positions at the Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Colonel Holland served as an observer/controller at the National Training Center, and then again served in 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas and Iraq, as the Division Chief of Plans, and Executive Officer for 1-22 Infantry, and then 1st Brigade Combat Team. Following a second tour in Germany as a staff officer in V Corps, Colonel Holland commanded a combined arms battalion, 2-12 Cavalry in 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas and in Iraq. Following command, Colonel Holland served as the Future Operations Chief for III Corps at Fort Hood, and most recently served as the Chief of Plans, US Army Europe.

Throughout his career, Colonel Holland has served as a combined arms officer from platoon through Army Service Component Command in a variety of command and staff positions. He is most indebted to the Soldiers, Sergeants, Civilians, and Officers with whom he has served in the past twenty-five years. Through the combined efforts of his teams, Colonel Holland has been awarded Legions of Merit, Bronze Star Medals, Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medals, and Army Achievement Medals. He has served overseas in five tours of duty including twice in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. His educational background includes a BA in History, Masters Degrees in Military Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, and National Security Studies.

Colonel Holland is married to Laura M. (Maddox) Holland. Together, they are raising four great children, David, Emma, Andrew, and Julia.
