Lowa Steam Locomotive to Run on Maltanka Tracks July 12–13
This coming weekend, the Lowa 26004 steam locomotive will appear on the Maltanka tracks. It will depart on the hour from the station at the Śródka roundabout, and 30 minutes later - from Zwierzyniec station.
On the weekend of July 12-13, Poznań will host the Lowa 26004 steam locomotive. It was manufactured in 1951 in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Initially, it was used in the Railway Works Company in Kraków, and later in the gravel pit in Mirosław Ujski. After it was decommissioned, it was a monument, then it was placed in an open-air museum, and finally it was taken care of by enthusiasts from Białośliwie. Thanks to this, after 35 years of standstill - including three years of repairs - it returned to the tracks in 2019.
Since then, the Lowa steam locomotive, which normally serves on the Wyrzysk County Railway, has visited the capital of Wielkopolska several times. The replacement of rolling stock is possible thanks to the same 600 mm gauge on the railways in Poznań and Białośliwie. This coming weekend, it will also pull cars on Maltanka.
During the weekend, the Maltanka Park Railway will operate every 30 minutes between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The steam locomotive will depart from the station at the Śródka roundabout on the hour, and 30 minutes later from the Zwierzyniec station.
Detailed information about the Maltanka Park Railway (timetable, price list) is available in the Tourism-Maltanka tab

Participating restaurants — including prestigious venues like A nóż widelec, Concordia Taste, FROMAŻERIA, Ratuszova, and The Time — are serving carefully curated, multi-course tasting menus that highlight the bounty of the Greater Poland region. Dishes are prepared with local, seasonal ingredients such as duck, potatoes, rhubarb, mirabelle plums, elderflower, and quark cheese, offering guests an unforgettable journey through local taste and tradition.
The menus, typically composed of three courses, offer optional drink pairings with regional wines, craft beers, or refreshing summer beverages. Many of the participating chefs have created modern interpretations of classic Polish flavors, bridging tradition and innovation in beautifully plated creations.
This initiative, supported by the City of Poznań and Instytut Skrzynki, is part of a broader effort to promote culinary tourism in the region. It encourages both gastronomic exploration and appreciation of local agriculture, highlighting the role of sustainable, locally sourced ingredients.
Visitors can enjoy this culinary journey throughout the summer, with most offers running until the end of August. Reservations are highly recommended, as many restaurants offer these special menus for a limited time and with limited seating.
