Department of the Army announces upcoming 1st Cavalry Division deployment

WASHINGTON -- The Department of the Army announced today the summer 2018 deployment of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, to Europe.

The 1st Armored Brigade will replace 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division as part of a regular rotation of forces to support Operation Atlantic Resolve.

"The Ironhorse Brigade looks forward to returning to Europe to continue working with our NATO and regional partners," said Col. Wilson Rutherford IV, commander of 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. "We are a trained armored brigade combat team which is fully prepared to conduct a full range of operations in support of U.S. Army Europe. Our professional leaders and soldiers are honored at the opportunity to contribute to this longstanding strategic alliance."
