COB Adder, Iraq - During his visit of the 287th Sustainment Brigade (SB) at Contingency Operating Base Adder, Feb. 20, Lt. Gen. Mitchell H. Stevenson, U.S. Army Deputy Chief of Staff G4, promoted Maj. Nathaniel Shropshire, Jr., 157th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB) Executive Officer, to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
The ceremony took place shortly after 287th SB Commander Col. Robert F. Schmitt hosted a presentation for Stevenson at the 287th SB's operations center. Stevenson, who was on an inspection tour of U.S. military Sustainment operations in Iraq, pinned Shropshire with his new rank and presented him with his promotion certificate. Afterwards, he congratulated newly promoted Shropshire on his promotion.
Shropshire serves as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 157th CSSB, an Army Reserve unit based out of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a native of Willingboro, New Jersey.
Shropshire is married, and the couple has five children and one grandchild.
