Gen. Dennis Via, commanding general of the Army Materiel Command, assisted in the promotion ceremony for Maj. Gen. John Wharton, commanding general of the Army Sustainment Command and Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., June 13 at Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club.

Wharton leads a global logistics organization of nearly 70,000 military, civilian, and contractor personnel responsible for sustaining Army and Joint Forces in support of Combatant Commands.

ASC organizes, trains, and sustains a quality deployable force, while integrating materiel and services for Warfighters.
