INCHEON, Republic of Korea -- Members of the Bupyeong-gu Korean American Friendship Council shared an end-of-year luncheon, Dec. 20.

Hong, Mi-young, mayor of Bupyeong-gu, and Col. Michael E. Masley, garrison commander for U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, and their respective teams, expressed gratitude for mutual support over the past year.

"I sincerely appreciate garrison commander, Col. Masley, for his kindness for permitting the use of Camp Market during the Poong-Mul Festival," Hong said. "This beneficial relationship between Bupyeong-gu and Yongsan Garrison is one of the big outcomes of our council and I would like to keep it this way."

The Bupyeong-gu KAFC has built a close relationship with USAG Yongsan through discussions of the province and various cultural, including the Bupyeong Poong-mul Festival and the Korea-America Culture Exchange Event.

Masley emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong ROK-U.S. alliance and also wished everyone a happy holidays.

"Thank you to each of you for your dedicated service, and what you do everyday strengthening and maintaining the greatest alliance ever between the Republic of Korea and the United States of America," Masley said. "I ask that you all take full advantage of the holidays to rest and spend time with your family."

This was Masley's first opportunity to meet with Hong and Bupyeong-gu KAFC members after taking command late this year. The meeting allowed both parties to reaffirm their continuing relationship for the upcoming year.
