Members of USACE Afghanistan District were presented an A-Team Award for a cooperative team effort as they recently surpassed all expectations with their efforts to develop and solicit the Kabul City Gates Phase 1 project.
From project kick-off on December 23, 2018, the team of Project Engineers, Program Managers, Contract Specialists, and was able to define the scope, develop the solicitation package to the Ready to Award stage, and issue the solicitation as of January 12, 2019.
The efforts of Sheila McCarthy, Project Manager; Patrick Grey, Civil Engineer; Lt. Col. Jacqueline Baird, Chief of Contracting; Oksana Strekha, Contract Specialist; Sgt. First Class Derrick Hill, Contract Specialist; and Keith Maxwell, Kabul Resident Engineer, have postured this first phase of the highly visible and critical force protection for the City of Kabul to be successfully completed prior to the elections and in support of our senior leaders from NATO Resolute Support Command, Combined Security Transition Command- Afghanistan and Kabul Security Forces.
Each organization working this project will exert its influence to meet the objectives of designing and constructing this program on time, within budget, and with the highest possible quality.
Kabul is the capital and largest city of Afghanistan, located in the eastern part of the country.
