Fort Sill will hold a memorial service for Pvt. Justin Blake Griffith Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. at Frontier Chapel Center. Griffith, 22, died Dec. 20 while on holiday block leave at Chunky, Miss. He was in his fifth week of Basic Combat Training with A Battery, 1st Battalion, 79th Field Artillery.

Griffith was born Jan. 6, 1991. He graduated with honors from Newton County High School in May, 2009. Griffith enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard Sept. 22, 2013. Griffith's awards include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon. He is survived by his wife Casey; his two step-children, Clay Ash Myatt and Grace Anna Myatt; and his parents, James Eugene and Polly Ann Ray Griffith.
