BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Feb. 7, 2013)--Peter G. Merkl received a Commander's Award for Civilian Service from Col. Mark A. Paget, 401st Army Field Support Brigade commander, during an awards ceremony at brigade headquarters Feb. 4.

Paget said he relied on Merkl for advice on a range of issues covering property accountability, contracting, personnel matters and General Order 1 violations.

Merkl volunteered for a six-month deployment as an attorney advisor to the 401st AFSB commander from his home station at Corpus Christi Army Depot.

Merkl was also awarded the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the NATO Medal.
