CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait- Pfc. Brandon Albert, a combat engineer from 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, met with his father, Henry Albert, on Camp Buehring, Kuwait Feb. 15.

It had been four months since their last encounter and three years since they have had any significant time together, as Henry is a civilian contractor at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

"I'd seen him for 20 minutes at the airport about four months ago when he was flying back to Kuwait," said Brandon, a native of Killeen, Texas.

They hadn't been able to see each other because of work and timing, Brandon went on to say.

"Keeping in touch by phone and internet is not always enough."

Brandon's dad wanted to meet in Kuwait and Brandon's chain of command ensured they had time together.

"I'm pretty excited. My dad and I were close when I was growing up and being away from him has (been hard)," said Brandon.

They started the day at a restaurant on the camp but mostly enjoyed the sunny day and catching up on lost time. The last time they spent time with each other was in 2008 when Brandon graduated basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

"I was proud to see him decide on what he wanted to do and I hope he stays in the Army for the full 20 years," said Henry.
