U.S. Army's European training command to change commanders, Jul. 21

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- The U.S. Army's 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command will hold a change-of-command ceremony at 2 p.m. on the Grafenwoehr parade field, Jul. 21.

Brig. Gen. Walter Piatt will hand over leadership of the Army's largest overseas training command to Brig. Gen. Christopher Cavoli.

Piatt relinquishes the reins of the JMTC after a year in command. Under his leadership, the JMTC oversaw the return of tanks and heavy-armored vehicles to the Army's major training areas in Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, as well as the first major exercises for the U.S. Army's regionally-aligned rotational forces in Europe.

On Mar. 18, 2014, Piatt was selected to serve as the next Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Europe, in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Brig. Gen. Cavoli's most recent assignment was as the Deputy Commanding General, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. Cavoli is a Foreign Area Officer with a concentration in Eurasia, and speaks Italian, Russian and French.

Media interested in attending the ceremony must register with the JMTC Public Affairs Office (usarmy.bavaria.jmtc.list.jmtc-pao-all@mail.mil) no later than Jul. 18.
