The Anniston Army Depot Legal Office was presented the Army Materiel Command Counsel Robert J. Parise Team Project Award at the 2012 AMC Continuing Legal Education Conference Aug. 16.

This award is intended to foster team spirit among the professional and support staff in the AMC Legal Community.

ANAD's Legal Office was recognized for developing and implementing a comprehensive Guidance and Policy Statement manual documenting 31 key office processes.

In creating the GPS, each staff member reviewed work processes using Lean principles to remove unnecessary steps and considered the input and roles of key stakeholders.

All drafts were reviewed by other office personnel and the product was finalized after extensive collaboration.

Each process was subjected to the principles of audience identification, information analysis and mapping to eliminate wasteful steps and enhance the effectiveness of each process.

"It truly was a team effort and through active participation by each office member we have buy-in to the success of the GPS," said Chief Depot Counsel George Worman.

According to Worman, the GPS has resulted in a document that ensures accountability, improves communication with clients and improves communication and team spirit within the Legal Office.

The Legal Office also earned the Robert J. Parise Team Project Award in 2005.
