FORT STEWART, Ga. - The Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 64th Armored Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, Third Infantry Division, have gone through months of preparation for the units upcoming deployment, whether it is the outfitting of equipment, or countless hours honing combat skills and successfully completing various gunnery ranges. However, the final step for the Desert Rogue Soldiers will be to complete the Soldier Readiness Processing.
The Soldier Readiness Processing center at Fort Stewart is designed to prepare a Soldier for the various issues a Soldier might face during a deployment, from financial needs to medical immunizations.
"The Soldiers are going through several stations designed to take care of most medical and other needs to ensure they will be ready for their upcoming deployment," said Dierdra Coleman, Department of Human Resources assistant director.
"The process ensures many of the medical, financial, and medical issues are taken care of for each Soldier prior to deploying," said Capt. Ji Busa, 2HBCT Medic.
The process includes each Soldier updating their medical records, immunizations, legal requirements such as wills, hearing and eye sight tests, as well as opening an Eagle Cash account to facilitate financial needs while deployed.
"The process of completing Soldier Readiness Processing is key to ensuring a Soldier will have potentially less issues arise during their deployment," said Capt. Busa."Whether it is medical, financial, or legal issues, it is key that these issues are resolved prior to a Soldier deploying to greatly reduce the chance a Soldier will be taken out of the fight for potential avoidable issues."
Soldiers from 1/64 Armor will be completing the Soldier Readiness Process throughout the week of Jan. 23-27.
Family Members will also have a similar process they can attend during the same week which will ensure that Family Members and dependents can be prepared while their Soldier is deployed.
