Maj. Gen. Patricia McQuistion, commanding general of Army Sustainment Command, toured Army and Air Force logistics activities during a Jan. 20 visit to Joint Base Charleston, S.C.

Loading operations were underway at Wharf Alpha, where hundreds of vehicles and containers were going aboard the USNS Red Cloud. Once the 950-foot-long vessel sets sail for the Pacific, its cargo becomes part of ASC's global collection of pre-positioned equipment. Care of Army Pre-positioned Stocks afloat and ashore is one of ASC's principal missions.

At ASC's Army Strategic Logistics Activity - Charleston, McQuistion viewed a demonstration of the Electronic Maintenance System - Next Generation, used for vehicle diagnostics and technical inspections.

Airmen from the 407th Aerial Port Squadron showed McQuistion their ability to package outsized Army cargo for aerial delivery to operating forces.
