WASHINGTON D.C. -- Oct. 10, 2011 --- The Army Materiel Command and its subordinate commands are on display at the 2011 Association of the United States Army Symposium and Exhibition this week in Washington D.C.
AUSA 2011 kicked off this morning with remarks from the Secretary of the Army, and will include remarks and round-table events with key Army leaders today through Wednesday.
AMC has a commanding presence on the first floor of the two-story exhibit hall, with exhibits highlighting new technology and programs that directly support the warfighter.
"It's important for AMC to have a presence here to be able to tell our story -- the story of how AMC provides every Soldier everything from wheels and tires to vehicles and weapons and ammunition when they need it, where they need it," said Col. Dan Williams, AMC public affairs afficer.
"97 percent of our workforce is civilian, and those civilians are incredibly dedicated to supporting the Soldier. As a team, we provide our Soldiers everything the Soldier needs to have the decisive edge," he added.
AMC's booth features interactive areas allowing visitors to learn how to conduct business with AMC, as well as a scaled model of an MRAP egress trainer and a variety of other programs.
Logistics Support Activity representatives will provide information on how the newly-developed Lead Materiel Integrator and Logistics Information Warehouse will assist the warfighter through automated support tools.
A highlight of the AMC booth is the "Always a Soldier Program," which allows Veterans to be placed in civilian positions throughout the command. A representative is on hand to discuss the process and provide potential placement information.
AMC's booth is located in Hall A, at booth 624.
