United States Forces Korea recognizes safety hero

YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea - An aviation maintenance manager from 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command was awarded the U.S. Forces Korea Command Sergeant Major Safety Hero Award April 27.

Sgt. 1st Class James L. Slinger received the award from Gen. Walter L. Sharp, commander of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea.

Slinger has written and published safety articles on his own time and created numerous safety training modules to help keep more 4,000 Soldiers and civilians safe, both on and off-duty.

His diligence was demonstrated by his alert recognition of a potential electrical and fire hazard in an apartment off-post.
