Confirmed shooting at Fort Hood

FORT HOOD, Texas - Department of Emergency Services officials confirmed at

approximately 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 that more than one shooter fired shots into

the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center and Howze Theater on Fort Hood.

Emergency personnel have responded to the scene and evacuated several

wounded.

At a 3:50 p.m. press conference, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, III Corps and Fort Hood

commander, confirmed that a Soldier and possibly two more were involved in

the shooting that resulted in 12 dead and 31 wounded in the general location

of the Soldier Readiness Processing Center.

The shooter reportedly had two handguns and was killed at the scene by

emergency personnel. Fort Hood is still in lock down. Cone is assessing the

situation to determine whether the situation has concluded.

Media representatives will be updated as more information is received.

Public affairs representatives will meet local members of the media at the

Fort Hood Main Gate.
