YONGIN, Republic of Korea - The Third Republic of Korea Army hosted the 8th Army commander and some of his staff at the first annual TROKA-8th Army Alliance Festival Sept. 30 at TROKA headquarters.
The purpose of the event was to foster stronger relationships and direct lines of communication between the two field armies.
The day's events included a memorial ceremony with remarks by commanders Lt. Gen. Joseph F. Fil, Jr. and Gen. Kim Sang-Ki, army update briefings, a golf tournament and a dinner with traditional Korean entertainers.
"Our fates and fortunes are inextricably linked together," said Fil during his remarks, "and our alliance continues to demonstrate our shared commitment to defend our shared values."
"I'd like to thank you for your steadfast commitment to our enduring alliance," Fil said.
