The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, on behalf of the U.S. government, and the Hellenic Land Forces performed a Joint Visual Inspection (JVI) June 3-5, 2024 at Camp Shelby Mississippi.to select vehicles tentatively allocated to Greece as Excess Defense Articles (EDA).
The JVI allowed the United States' Greek partners to review and inspect vehicles for a potential Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA).
EDA is part of the U.S. Army Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program, executed by the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC). The term EDA is applied collectively to U.S. defense articles which are no longer needed by the U.S. Armed Forces. EDA may be made available for sale under the FMS Program (Sec 21 AECA) or as grant (no cost).
USASAC leads the AMC Security Assistance Enterprise; develops and manages security assistance programs and FMS cases to build partner capacity, support COCOM engagement strategies and strengthen U.S. global partnerships. The command oversees cases with more than 150 countries and agencies at a total value exceeding $250 billion.
