Hispanic-American Chamber honors Picatinny Arsenal Garrison Commander

PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - Lt. Col. Alexander D. Burgos, Picatinny Arsenal Garrison Commander, was selected as the recipient of the Morris County Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce (MCHACC) "Prestigious Leadership Chairman's Award" for calendar year 2023.

With his parents in attendance, Burgos received the recognition, at the MCHACC’s Annual Awards and Holiday Network Reception at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey, on Dec. 19.

“I am truly humbled and grateful to express my heartfelt appreciation to the MCHACC for bestowing upon me the prestigious Chairman Award,” Burgos said during his acceptance speech. “It is an honor that I never anticipated, and I am genuinely touched by this recognition.”

With his father retiring from the U.S. Army as a sergeant major after 28-years of service, Burgos comes from a military family, and credited his parents for laying the foundation for his career.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my parents, who shaped me and made me the leader and follower I am today,” he said. “The journey in life I have been able to take is all due to the scarifies they made as they left Puerto Rico and embarked on a life of military service to this great nation. As you can see, I choose to follow.”

The garrison commander then humbly thanked the Picatinny workforce for his recognition.

“This award is more of a reflection of the great team I have at the Garrison and across Picatinny Arsenal that has allowed us to foster and improve our relationships across Morris County,” said Burgos.

Now in its 34th year, the MCHACC’s mission of advocating, promoting, and advancing the interests of business owners, professionals, organizations, and corporations within Morris County and the adjacent areas that target and service the growing U.S. Hispanic market.   The chamber represents “the fastest growing market segment in this country,” according to the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia.
