The Fort A.P. Hill fire department were dispatched to Range 24 on South Post for a brush fire. The fire was outside of the fire breaks and moving towards multiple range targets. Fire fighters and Forestry staff who are trained in firefighting, were hindered by the location of the fire and its proximity to unexploded ordnance areas. The firefighters fought the blaze for 48 hours, ultimately using a back burn in order to put out the wildfire.
