Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, commanding general, U.S. Army Military District of Washington hosted His Excellency Edi Rama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, during an Armed Forces Full Honors Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery April 13, 2016.

The wreath-laying ceremony is in honor of the Prime Minister's official visit to the United States.

"It's a very strong emotion," said Rama. "It's very unique place on earth and it's a moment one cannot avoid to feel very proud as prime minister of Albania for being so loyal an ally to United States."

According the U.S. State Department, The United States has been a strong partner and friend to Albania as it has made progress to consolidate democracy, to open up its economy, and to provide opportunity for all its people. Albania and the United States have signed and ratified a number of agreements, including a treaty on the prevention of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the promotion of defense and military relations.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relationships between Albania and the United States.
