PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - Four Picatinny employees were among 10 individuals honored by the Picatinny Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association during the organization's 28th annual Firepower Awards luncheon in Randolph Nov. 13.

Among those recognized were Richard G. Audette, deputy project manager for Soldier Weapons, Matthew V. Cilli, deputy project manager for Electromagnetic Gun Projects, Robin Gullifer, deputy product manager for Improvised Explosive Device Defeat/Protect Force and Kenneth Insco, deputy product manager for Medium Cannon Caliber Ammunition.

Lee J. Bennett, acting director of Benet Laboratories, Watervliet, N.Y., also was honored. Benet Laboratories is part of the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center here.

Audette received the chapter's firepower management award and Bennett and Cilli were presented firepower technology awards. Gullifer and Insco received the Victor Lindner development award and the Wilfred Hosking production award respectively.

Five other individuals from the private sector also received awards from the Picatinny chapter.

Those private-sector recipients include Mary Mulholland, development coordinator at Saint Clare's Health System based in Denville; Rodger Elkins, director, advanced tactical weapons, Raytheon Missile Systems, Tucson, Ariz.; Sam Malhotra, chief executive officer, Subsystems Technologies Inc., Rosslyn, Va.; Edwin G. Steiner, former director of large-caliber research and development at General Defense, Olin, Primex and General Dynamics; and Richard G. Strickland, corporate special projects officer, AAI Corporation.

Mulholland received the chapter's appreciation award and Elkins also was presented with the Victor Linder development award.

Malhotra was recognized with the firepower management award, Steiner was presented the Wilfred Hosking production award and Strickland received the chapter's pioneer award.

Retired Navy Rear Adm. David M. Stone, former assistant secretary of homeland security for the Transportation Security Administration, was the keynote speaker for the event.

The firepower awards are presented annually by the chapter to individuals employed by either government or industry whose contributions to the armaments community have distinguished their service to the national defense.
