NATICK, Mass. (April 23, 2015) -- The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center supported the New England Community Advisory Board presence at the start of the Boston Marathon in Hopkinton, Mass. on Patriots Day, April 20, 2015, with a combined NECAB/Army display on the Hopkinton Common.
NSRDEC support consisted of a robust display inside one of their airbeam-technology tent shelters, and featured a dummy MC1-1C parachute system, a Combat Feeding display including a Flameless Ration Heater demonstration, body armor and Army Combat Helmet, and a historical uniform display of combat uniforms designed at NSRDEC and used in Viet Nam, Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
NECAB is an Army Recruiting Command initiative supported by the New England Army Recruiting Battalion comprised of NERB members and civilian volunteers. The support to Hopkinton on Patriots Day for the start of the Boston Marathon is NECAB's largest yearly public event and 2015 will be the fourth consecutive year of support. The event uses NECAB elements to tell the Army story in Hopkinton and raise awareness of the Army, NECAB and its mission. The NECAB presence in Hopkinton on Patriots Day 2015 at the start of the Boston Marathon enables NECAB to reach a wide and diverse audience and expose members of the public to the role that the Army and NECAB play in the community.
Additional participants included the U.S. Army New England Recruiting Battalion, US Army Boston Medical Recruiting Company, and local chapters of the Association of the U.S. Army, the Massachusetts Army National Guard Recruiting Office, and local Veteran and military support organizations.

The Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center is part of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, which has the mission to develop technology and engineering solutions for America's Soldiers.
RDECOM is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. AMC is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness -- technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment -- to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations. If a Soldier shoots it, drives it, flies it, wears it, eats it or communicates with it, AMC provides it.
