One of CCAD's most valuable quality assurance professionals was appointed Director of Quality Management.

Depot commander, Col. Billingsley Garner Pogue III made the announcement at the beginning of the helicopter maintenance facility's latest production update on May 22, 2014. The commander expressed his confidence in the selection process which included a number of highly-qualified professionals vying for a shot as the next Director of Quality. The position went to Richard Stevenson.

With over 37 years of aviation experience, 30 of which was with the Navy, Richard Stevenson has a vested interest in the quality of the products that go out of CCAD's doors. It is his responsibility to ensure the Army depot returns all aircraft and components to the customer with uncompromising quality.

Col. Pogue admits that Stevenson will carry a "heavy rucksack" as the head of quality as the position carries schedule, cost, and quality: the three main drivers of the business side of Army aviation.

As Director, he will develop and manage all Quality Control Programs that should posture the depot for success in this business trinity in the outlying years. This includes ensuring compliance with CCAD ISO 9001 and AS9110 certification.

Stevenson came to CCAD in the summer of 2005 as a Quality Assurance Auditor for ISO 9000 but eventually progressed to Chief of the Aircraft Quality Control Division. His depot career track includes assignments as the Foreign Objects Debris Prevention Program Management, Night Superintendent for Quality Assurance, Chief Quality Control Power Plants Branch, and Chief Aircraft Quality Control Branch. He served as a member of the Army Materiel Command Quality Assurance working group and on CCAD's Guiding Coalition for Leading Change Teams.

He is a certified Level 3 Acquisition Professional for Production Quality and Manufacturing. He graduated from the Defense Contract Management Agency Aviation Maintenance Managers class, Army Management Staff College Leadership Course, and the Defense Acquisition University Yellow Belt Course.

Stevenson is a member of the Army Aviation Association of America and active member in Chapter 125 of the Federal Managers Association.
