ACC Senior Career Counselor

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas

Describe your current position.

I am the senior career counselor for Army Contracting Command and for Redstone Arsenal.

As an active duty Army career counselor, I'm the program administrator and expert technical advisor to the commander and command sergeant major on all reenlistment aspects of the Army Retention Program.

Describe your professional/education background.

I've had the honor of serving my country for more than 16 years. I enlisted in the Army as an administrative specialist and reclassified to a career counselor in 2005. I've deployed with the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom X. I've successfully completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Airborne School. I'm pursuing a master's in business administration.

How does your job support the Soldier?

My job, providing counseling, begins the day a Soldier enters the Army and continues throughout the Soldier's Army career. The counseling is designed to prepare Soldiers for the future, whether a full Army career or for return to a civilian pursuit. I advise Soldiers and their families not only about their reenlistment options, but also about how they compare with their peer group for education, time in current rank, and strength status of their military occupational specialty.
