YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea (Jan. 17, 2014) -- The Eighth Army commanding general recognized the top U.S. Army logisticians in South Korea here yesterday.
Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Bernard S. Champoux presented awards for excellence in maintenance, supply and deployment standards during a ceremony on Yongsan Garrison.
"Logisticians are often the unsung heroes in our business, but not today," said Champoux, a native of Pittsfield, Mass.
Units from the 2nd Infantry Division, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 65th Medical Brigade and 403rd Army Field Support Battalion were recognized at the ceremony.
The Eighth Army-level award winners will compete at the U.S. Army Pacific-level competition.
"Our logisticians in Eighth Army understand the importance of their mission and do it well every day," said Champoux. "What you do keeps us ready and makes us the strongest military force in history."
"Because of you, Eighth Army is strong, and getting stronger," said Champoux.
