CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait -- The 101st and 98th Expeditionary Signal Battalions held a transfer of authority ceremony at Camp Buehring, Kuwait on Jan 18, 2019.

The 101st ESB, an Army National Guard unit headquartered in Yonkers, New York, has served nine months in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield, providing communications support for more than a dozen operating sites in some seven countries across the Middle East as part of the coalition effort to defeat the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

The 98th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, headquartered in Mesa, Arizona will assume the mission following the transfer of authority.

Brig. Gen. Nikki Griffin Olive, 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional) commander, thanked Soldiers from the 101st ESB for their service and efforts and challenged the 98th ESB Soldiers during her remarks. Griffin Olive also emphasized to Soldiers about thanking their families who are the unsung heroes when deployments happen.

An awards ceremony recognizing the accomplishment of Soldiers in the 101st ESB immediately followed the transfer of authority.
