ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- The cleaning portion of Anniston Army Depot's Cleaning, Finishing and Painting Division is responsible for preparing parts scheduled to be repaired or overhauled.

When parts are disassembled from a tank, they are sorted into baskets or pallets to await cleaning.

The cleaning begins at the D-Zolve vats. This environmentally friendly and non-hazardous stripper helps employees remove grease, some paint and plastisol from the parts before they go to sandblasting, additional cleaning or repair processes.

To assist in cleaning, there are three types of blast equipment in the area - sandblast booths, walnut blast booths and several rotary blast booths.

Once parts are clear of grease, paint and any other particles, they are ready to proceed to the component repair shops spread throughout the installation.
