REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. Aca,!" The Bronze Star was awarded to Lt. Col. Jay Curry for meritorious service while serving as deputy director of Space Forces, Combined Air and Space Operations Center, in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom from December 2007 to December 2008.

Aca,!A"I was surprised and humbled that I received this level of an award,Aca,!A? Curry said. During his deployment at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Curry supported two Army Corps, seven Army divisions and two Marine Expeditionary Forces while servicing more than 75 space support requests from two combat theaters.

The Bronze Star citation honored CurryAca,!a,,cs critical and seamless integration of space into daily combat operations. This resulted in resolving a yearlong shortfall with improvised explosive device warning from space, resulting in a 50 percent improvement in timely warning and the capture of five explosive manufacturers.

The citation further noted CurryAca,!a,,cs efforts to ensure the protection of unmanned aerial vehicle satellite links and the collection of unique intelligence which crippled insurgent offensive strategies. This enabled the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to reassert control over territory previously controlled by the Taliban.

Curry also thanked those in the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT) who supported the efforts.
