When it comes to aircraft pricing, logisticians will be the first to tell you that it's not as easy as pulling prices out of the sky. There's a process, and a time, for everything.

No team at the Corpus Christi Army Depot knows this better than the Aviation Systems Program Management Division. They see pricing as more of an exercise -- a routine that requires vigilance, dedication and repetition, training with the pros, tracking and achieving results.

Every November, they hold a special planning exercise to determine next year's pricing for each helicopter project's life cycle. CCAD has participated in these exercises with their higher headquarters at the US Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management for more than a decade.

CCAD held its last event, the Fiscal Year 2018 pricing exercise, from November 14-22, 2016. The exercise included the FY17 command schedule locks, FY17 program/funding acceptance and the fy18 pricing exercise.

AMCOM's Logistics Center Planning and Workload Branch, the Weapon System Teams (customer representatives) and CCAD's Aviation System Program Management Division worked together to ensure consistent out-year pricing and accurate pricing trends to maintain a competitive edge in the industry. Final pricing are utilized in the out year revenue planning, or budget estimation submission.

As part of this event, 425 US Army, US Air Force and US Navy Component Programs were reviewed at an estimated value of $704M of planned revenue. The depot recognized pricing increases of about $6.6M (0.95%) largely in the UH-60 components.

The ALC's Planning and Workload Branch recognized CCAD's Aviation Systems Program Management team with Certificates of Appreciation for their hard work and commitment on November 18, 2016.

With their trophies in hand, the team at the depot understand the true achievement is in knowing their customer on the other line -- America's warfighter -- is receiving quality helicopter, components and service from a dedicated team of Army professionals within the Army's organic industrial base.
