ANSBACH, Germany (July 27, 2015) -- Six liaison officers from the Bundeswehr Reserve in Bamberg recently visited the U.S. Army Fire Training Center at the Urlas Community to take home a better understanding of training implemented to hone U.S. Military firefighting skills July 18.
The liaison officers are assigned to the Kreisverbindungskommando Bamberg-Stadt (District Liaison Command Bamberg-City) and came to learn on their scheduled training day how U.S. Army firefighters from all U.S. Army garrisons in Europe conduct training for required certification and proficiency.
Jürgen Schwab, a training officer at the fire training center, explained to the KVK team that effective fire drills are being conducted by subjecting firefighters to realistic training conditions and scenarios, in line with required U.S. and Host Nation firefighting standards and regulations.
Schwab also pointed out that the training center uses environmentally friendly propane to simulate different types of computer-controlled fires, using water instead of foam to extinguish the flames.
