The Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Professor David Mwakyusa has said his ministry is set to implement a health policy, which provides that every village shall have a health centre.<br/><br/>Prof Mwakyusa made the remarks yesterday at Msata village here where he was officially presented with a new building donated by the United States .<br/><br/>"Completion of this building at Msata village is one of the implementations of the health policy that,every village must have a health centre," he said.<br/><br/>The minister cautioned Msata villagers to look over the centre and its facilities so that it can be used for years for the betterment of all Tanzanians.<br/><br/>He said among other things, the centre would also cater for Chalinze-Segera road accidents victims as the centre is located along the accidents prone highway.<br/><br/>"The new building would add capacity of professionals in assisting road accidents victims timely," he said.<br/><br/>He told the Msata villagers that the construction of this centre was due to road accidents along the highway whose victims had to be rushed to as far as Tumbi Hospital, some of whom never reach alive.<br/><br/>Prof Mwakyusa said everybody is obliged to prevent road accidents so that the centre could be used for other duties apart for treating casualities.<br/><br/>According to the agreement with the Us government, the Tanzania government has to provide the clinic with facilities.<br/><br/>On his part, the American Ambassador to Tanzania, Michael Retzer said the United States will continue assisting Tanzania to improve its infrastructures, such as the Msata Health Centre.<br/><br/>He said the health centre will enable the Bagamoyo medical personnel to provide triage in an area known for its severe and often fatal vehicle accidents.<br/><br/>Retzer urged Msata Villagers to keep the centre well so that it caters for future generations.<br/><br/>The USD 144,000 building donated by the US, has a theatre, X-ray room, and a laboratory which can accommodate 10 beds, was designed by Tanzania People's Defence Forces (TPDF), contracted by Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) with Tanzania Building Works LTD hired to construct it.<br/><br/>Present during the event were the Coast Regional Commissioner Dr Christina Ishengoma, Bagamoyo District Commissioner Lt Col (rtd) Serenge Mrengo, representatives from TPDF headquarters, Dar es Salaam, delegation from the US Embassy and Msata Villagers.
