DA PAM 601-280 Army Retention Program Procedures
This pamphlet provides guidance and procedures for the Army Retention Program. For those Soldiers serving in the Regular Army, it outlines procedures for immediate reenlistment or extension of enlistment. For Soldiers separating from the Regular Army, it outlines eligibility standards and options for enlistment or transfer into the Reserve Component (U.S Army Reserve and Army National Guard). This publication implements the policy contained in AR 601-280.

The Army launched the Department of the Army Career Engagement Survey (DACES), a new survey which allows Soldiers to voice their concerns directly and anonymously to Army leadership. DACES is a customized survey, with questions tailored to the individual Soldier based on their responses to previous questions. The Army will use the results of DACES to inform retention efforts and help the Army create retention incentives and improve quality of life programs in order to retain talent.
